Dok Hae Sunim / Vice Abbot & House Master
Dok Hae Sunim was born in 1975. He comes originally from Debrecen, Hungary. He studied mathematics and computer programming. He first met Zen through reading in 1990. He practiced Yoga in everyday life (Maheshwarananda) for three years and Aikido for fourteen years. He has taught Aikido for two years. He met Chong An Sunim JDPS in Winter 2003 and he started to practice with him since Spring 2004. Same year in Summer he had his first Kyol Che, in Winter he took 5 precepts. In Autumn 2005 he moved to Budapest Zen Center and entered his monk training as Kwang Jin HJN. In year 2006 he moved to Won Kwang Sa. There he started to work on the temple project lead by Chong An Sunim, JDPS. After 3 years of training and hard work, he became a novice monk in Autumn 2008. His monk name Dok Hae Sunim means “The Ocean of Virtue”.He took bhikku precepts at the end of the Winter Kyol Che in Spring 2011.
He is the Vice Abbot and the House Master of our temple. He gives all his heart and life for the community, the Sangha. He speaks Hungarian and English.

Won Hyang Sunim / Guest Master
Won Hyang Sunim was born is 1975 in Warsaw, Poland.
She studied Oriental studies in Warsaw and in 1991 she spent one year on scholarship in China. There she met Buddhism for the first time. In 2006 she started to practice in Falenica Zen Center, Warsaw. In 2008 she took 10 precepts. She lived in Falenica Zen Center for one year in 2009. During the residential training she decided to enter the monastic life and moved to Won Kwang Sa in October 2009, where she became Haeng Ja. After 1,5 year of training, she took novice precepts and became nun on April 2, 2011.
She likes animals and takes care of any orphan animal that comes to the temple. These days it is our beloved temple cat.
Won Hyang Sunim speaks Polish, English, Mandarine Chinese and understands Russian and French.

Balázs Kertész / Garden Master
Balázs was born in October 1984. He comes originally from Szeged, Hungary. He has one sister.
He started to practice with Chong An Sunim 4 years ago in Szeged. In May 2010, Balázs visited Korea, travelled and visited several temples and stayed for 2 weeks in Mu Sang Sa Temple. At the beginning of September 2010, Balázs moved to Won Kwang Sa.
He graduated from sociology studies in Szeged. He is also a certified yoga teacher and just now started to give classes once a week in Budapest.
His most favorite hobbies are music, yoga, traveling and community living.
Balázs speaks Hungarian and some English.

Ginta Gaivenyte / Kitchen Master
Ginta Gaivenyte was born in July, 1982. She originally comes from Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania. She studied journalism and worked as a journalist in lithuanian media. In 2008 she started to practise yoga and soon met a japanese zen practitioner, who told her about sitting practise. Half a year later she went to the first Dharma talk, given by Hyon Gak Sunim. After a few months spent on reading Zen Master Seung Sahn's "The Compass of Zen", she finally gained courage to come to YMJJ with Jo Potter JDPSN.
In 2011 she sat Winter Kyol Che in Won Kwang Sa, and was fascinated by the calm beauty of the temple life. After retreat she decided to come to Won Kwang Sa as a resident. Now she is the kitchen master of the temple and especially likes to cook indian food.
She is interested in yoga and drawing. Ginta speaks Lithuanian and English.
