Winter Kyol Che 2012

We cordially invite you to Won Kwang Sa Temple for the annual 90-day retreat—Winter Kyol Che 2012.
Kyol Che starts on January 3, and ends on March 30, and will take place in our Zen Hall. This retreat will be led by the European Teachers.

100-day Summer Kido

Traditionally we hold a 100-day summer Kwan Seum Bosal kido at Won Kwang Sa from June 3 to September 11, 2011.
The daily schedule includes 2x30 minutes sitting meditation, 3 chanting sessions, informal meals, temple work and lots of free time to make trips in the area and enjoy the summer. There is no mandatory silence. Participants can practice, help the temple and get to know their Sangha friends from all over the world. It is an excellent opportunity to engage in Dharma practice and discover nature in the Won Kwang Sa valley...
During Summer Kido, Won Kwang Sa Temple is open to all guests and visitors. You can stay for any length of time, practice with us, help with the summer works in the garden or temple maintenance, and try the temple community living.
Any visits or stay must be first communicated with the temple office.

Bul Hwa HJN became Won Hyang Sunim

On April 2, 2011 Bul Hwa HJN took novice nun precepts and became Won Hyang Sunim. The whole WKS family is very happy and proud of her. She is our wonderful kitchen master for over 1,5 years.
Every now and then a star appears within our Sangha to light up the path we are taking as Zen students. These stars serve as inspiration for our Sangha and place a hand of loving kindness and gentleness upon us when the going is rough. Won Hyang Sunim is one of those stars! She has chosen to wear the robes of the homeless and has turned her eyes and ears to serving the Sangha every day- all hours of the day. Thank you so much, Won Hyang Sunim!
