Welcome to Won Kwang Sa Temple!

Won Kwang Sa International Zen Temple is providing a traditional Korean yet distinctly Western Zen training to people of all ages, lifestyles and religious backgrounds. With a residential community of monastics and lay trainees, Won Kwang Sa Temple offers a wide variety of programs and retreats. The temple grounds consist of more than 5 hectares of beautiful forest land in the Pilis Mountains of Hungary. The temple offers many opportunities for self-study and introspection, as well as being with the community, and doing one of the most important forms of training: together action. When we look into the mirror of our own minds, as well as our fellow practitioners reflect our karma back to us, we can find the correct direction for our lives, attain our true self and save all beings from suffering.

1-week retreat with workshops, summer diet and yoga

July 25 - 31, 2010

This experimental event will be led by Arne Schaefer JDPSN and it will be based on traditional meditation and kongan interviews. During the retreat we will eat very light meals (cleansing diet with lots of raw vegetables and fruit) and also learn how to do holistic cooking from Avital Sebbag from Israel. We will do every-day yoga classes led by Anat Zahor from Israel. And not only this! There will be some very interesting workshops lead by Arne PSN, professional coach and therapist and his wife Irmi.

100-day Kwan Seum Bosal Kido

June 5 - September 4, 2010

Just like every year, also this summer we hold 100-day Kwan Seum Bosal kido.

There is no mandatory silence. Participants can practice, help the temple and get to know their Sangha friends from all over the world. It is an excellent opportunity to engage in Dharma practice and discover nature in the Won Kwang Sa valley...

Two new books with compiled Dharma Talks given by Chong An Sunim, JDPS in the last three years are now available in our temple. Both books are written in Korean and English (the first half of the book is the Korean translation, the second half of the book is the English original).
